Product Overview

High quality and superior performance, Makrolon® CS UV profiled polycarbonate sheet is ideal for residential, commercial and industrial roofing and cladding applications where natural lighting is required. Manufactured from high-tech, high quality Bayer Makrolon® polycarbonate resin, Makrolon® CS UV sheets combine remarkable clarity with incredible strength and excellent fire resistant properties. The added protection of a co-extruded UV protective barrier means that the sheets will never crack or peel away. Makrolon® CS UV sheets are 250 times stronger than glass, exhibit exceptional resistance to impact, extreme weather conditions and numerous chemicals. They also remain free of corrosion and provide protection from 99.9% of harmful UV radiation.

Makrolon® CS UV offers the classic Makrolon® 2000 and the metallic heat reflecting Makrolon® Apollo, both available in a range of popular profiles, colours and thicknesses. Applications for Makrolon® CS UV sheet range from roofing or cladding for factories, warehouses and public buildings to skylights, swimming pool covers, greenhouses, verandas, pergolas, patio covers, awnings, carports, gazebos and more.

Features & Benefits

Remarkable Impact Strength
Makrolon® CS UV sheets exhibit remarkable impact resistance. Manufactured from high quality Makrolon® polycarbonate resin which has 250 times the impact strength of glass and up to 40 times that of Acrylic (PMMA) sheet at the same thickness, Makrolon® CS UV sheets are virtually unbreakable.

Glass-like Clarity
Clear Makrolon® CS UV sheets exhibit glass-like clarity with excellent light transmission.

UV Protection
Makrolon® CS UV sheets prevent the transmission of more than 99.9% of harmful ultraviolet radiation, providing excellent protection against the sun for your skin, furnishings and plants.

Excellent Resistance to UV Degradation
Makrolon® CS UV sheets are protected from UV degradation and discoloration by a co-extruded layer of Makrolon® polycarbonate resin. Because this UV layer is co-extruded, it can’t peel or separate from the sheet, providing long-term durability and protection.

Extreme Weather Resistance
Makrolon® CS UV sheets remain stable under
extreme climatic conditions remaining virtually unchanged between temperatures of -20°C and +120°C. They will not become brittle at low temperatures, provided adequate allowance has been made for expansion and will not distort
at high temperatures.

Thermal Insulation
Makrolon® CS UV sheets are better insulators against heat or cold in comparison to glass or GRP sheets.

Excellent Corrosion Resistance
Makrolon® CS UV sheets simply do not corrode.

Chemical Resistance
Makrolon® CS UV Sheets are resistant to a wide range of chemicals. They are generally unaffected by acids, alcohols, glycols, mineral oils, animal and vegetable fats, kerosene, and non-abrasive cleaners. However, they are affected by benzene, petrol, ketones, acetones, phenols, chlorinated and aromatic hydrocarbons, petroleum based paints, abrasive cleaners and solvents. For more information, contact your distributor for a data sheet.

Flexibility
Makrolon® CS UV sheets can be curved either parallel or perpendicular to their corrugations providing the flexibility to construct curved roofs or walls (maximum radius will depend on profile).

Flammability
Makrolon® CS UV sheets have an excellent flammability rating (UL94 V-2), are self-extinguishing, fire resistant and suitable for use in fire prone areas. They will not emit toxic gasses and are less flammable than GRP or Acrylic (PMMA) sheets.

Easy Handling and Installation
Due to their light weight, Makrolon® CS UV sheets are easy to handle and install. Cutting and drilling can be performed easily without the need for special tools.

Easy Maintenance
Simply clean with warm soapy water (mild detergent) and a soft sponge. Hose down thoroughly.

Quality
Makrolon® CS UV sheets are manufactured to comply with AS/NZS 4256.5 Plastic roof and wall cladding materials- Polycarbonate. The manufacturer, Bayer MaterialScience Australia holds Australian Standards Mark Product Compliance Licence number 1811.

Bayer MaterialScience Australia is also a Quality Endorsed Company. Its management system is certified to ISO 9001:2000, licence number 1197.

Makrolon® CS UV Warranty
Makrolon® CS UV sheets are backed by a 10 year warranty against loss of light transmission and a 5 year warranty against hail breakage. Provided that all warranty conditions are satisfied, these warranties will be honored anywhere in the world where Makrolon® CS UV sheets, manufactured by Bayer MaterialScience Australia, are sold.

Shading coefficient is a ratio of the warming effect of the sun’s rays through a Makrolon® CS UV sheet divided by the warming effect of the sun’s rays through 3mm thick float glass (300-2500nm). The lower the figure the cooler it is under the sheet.

Light transmission is the % of visible light transmission (400-700nm) that passes through the sheet. The lower the figure the less light passes through the sheet.
